Sharing Information

Motivating your team and your people to a large extent is possible with many small and important steps. One amongst this is the necessity to show them the things your company is doing and where it is going.

Monetary incentive is always important to an employee. However it is also important to make an employee feel good about him and his job. Nobody wants to work for a company with a 7 digit salary where he cant say what a great job he has or what a great company he works for.

Recently in a conference
meet, I observed the behaviour of a number of executives before and after the conference. The big wigs were there and were sharing all sort of information. The company was had a hit a rough patch and was going thru some tough times. Even after the post meet party, the big wig sat with the executives and were sharing so many things, answering so many questions. I could see and even hear the positive vibes amongst the executives in the later hours. They were so upbeat about things that they were actually planning how to fight out the rough times. Pre meet they were hardly bothered about anything and were bogged down by the present state of affairs.

Saring information (not everything, as it is not neccessary and at the same time dangerous too!!!) with your people is important to make them part of whats going on. This places a lot of importance and ownership in the employees and emphasises how they must play a pert in the company's plans.

These small steps play a great role in employee retention and motivation.
